History of Sail Airlie

Since becoming an annual event in 2009, the Whitsunday Sailing Club Easter Off the Beach regatta has become an important date in the calendar for many sailors across Queensland, with some coming all the way from Brisbane to complete.

2021 celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the formation of Whitsunday Sailing Club.  This year there are major construction works as the club expands the maritime training centre.  However the regatta continues, so the club would love to see as many competitors, families and friends enjoying the festivities.

Sail Airlie Regatta

Once again , the Whitsunday Sailing Club will conduct the annual Sail Airlie regatta over the Easter period, 16 – 18 April 2022. Other classes which compete in the event included Tasar, Flying 11, A Class, 125, Optimist, Sabot.

The regatta is open to all classes of Off the Beach racing dinghies and catamarans.  Classes may be split into divisions, with results calculated by class yardstick, subject to entries.

Up to 10 races are scheduled for each division, with racing on Saturday, Sunday and Monday
